Objectives

Would you like to be immersed in a company from the last year of your Master's program, to manage a concrete innovation project "from A to Z"? This specialization allows you to do so!

You will be trained by following courses at HEC Liège but also by being immersed in a company, where you will have the opportunity to put your management training into practice through the concrete management of an innovation project.  You will be required to conduct an in-depth analysis of a management challenge for a particular company and to propose and implement appropriate solutions to meet this management challenge.  To do so, you will develop a multidimensional and critical thinking process that is essential to the success of any strategic innovation project.

You will develop your expertise in the fields of corporate strategy and organization as well as in project management, innovation management and change management, expertise that is essential for any high-level manager and any consultant wishing to specialize in these issues.

The + of the specialization

  • An innovative training-action program, with a "problem-based learning" pedagogical approach based on a strong immersion in the company.
  • Development of students' theoretical and practical expertise in strategy, project management, innovation management and change management.
  • An in-company immersion throughout the academic year (3 weeks per month during the second year of the Master).
  • Academic supervision by several HEC Liège professors as well as coaching by the company mentor and the project steering committee within the company.
  • Close contact with high-level executives and company managers.
  • A first real professional experience.

Skills acquired at the end of the specialization

1. Management of a concrete strategic project in a company (as a young "project manager" or "junior consultant"), leading to the following skills :

  • Cross-functional understanding and effective management of a strategic innovation project in a company "from A to Z" (analyzing the issues, developing a cross-functional and multidimensional vision of the project, identifying possible solutions, implementing the chosen solution, etc.);
  • Mobilization of diagnostic tools for the context in which the innovation project is taking place (conducting a strategic audit, carrying out an organizational audit, anticipating the impact of the context on the positioning and management of the project, etc.);
  • implementation of tools related to project management and change management (planning the project, managing innovation, managing change, etc.).

2. Development of "soft skills" such as initiative, strategic thinking, critical thinking, solution finding, cross-functional approach, negotiation techniques, communication practices, teamwork skills, etc.

3. Articulation of academic and professional visions, allowing for the best combination of theoretical concepts and concrete realities as well as the development of a complete expertise - theoretical and practical - in project management, innovation management and change management.

Professional openings

Graduates of this specialization lead strategic projects and manage innovation and change dynamics in all areas of management and within a wide variety of organizations. They generally hold management positions of responsibility. They are also present in the consulting field.
