After HEC Paris and for the first time in Belgium, Timothée Parrique, PhD in ecological economics and researcher at the University of Lund (Sweden), will present his book « Ralentir ou Périr. L’économie de la décroissance ».

"Far from being the miracle cure for the crises we face, economic growth is the primary cause. Behind this mysterious phenomenon that unleashes passions, there is a whole economic system that we urgently need to understand better.

In his essay on economics accessible to all, Timothy Parrique deconstructs one of the greatest contemporary mythologies: the pursuit of growth. We do not need to produce more to eradicate poverty, reduce inequality, create jobs, finance public services, and improve our quality of life. On the contrary, this modern obsession with accumulation is a brake on social progress and a gas pedal of ecological collapse.

Between producing more and polluting less, we will have to choose.This is aneasy choice because an economy can prosper without growth, provided that we completely rethink its organization"
